28

Yep, that’s me today! πŸ™‚ 28…when did I get so old?! Seriously, I’m not bothered. The only one that’s ever bothered me was turning 27–and that was a dark time in general. 28 is a pretty cool number, though, really.

We had a late kind-of-candlelight dinner last night. “Kind of” because it was pretty impromptu and not meant to conjure up images of some romantic restaurant setting (um, yeah, our house isn’t there yet…) and also because it wasn’t actually real dark at the time either. πŸ™‚ Steve bought me a set of 6 Bohemia Crystal champagne flutes which he gave to me early so we could use them to drink our “plonk” (as he called it; actually an “alcohol-removed” chardonnary that neither of us ended up liking) which we’d been saving till we owned some appropriate glasses.

Steve was meant to be up at 4am to do an early job in Victoria that got booked yesterday. He came home to tell me that he’d got his dad to do it so we were lazy bums this morning and slept in–just ask my family, they called twice only to get the answering machine, heehee. I got breakfast cooked for me and the dishes washed, too! I’d made waffles and sauteed apples (so yum!) last night for dessert so we had some more of that–even though we had to forego the bacon and eggs to accompany it as the bacon was too frozen solid to pry apart (our microwave is still on the way)!

I have been text messaged all day which has been LOVELY. Matter of fact, as I was typing that sentence, another text came through (thank, Elyse!). πŸ™‚ I’ve got Facebook and Myspace comments, an e-card (thanks to my adorable niblings–or their momma!) and phone calls. I’ve been so spoilt and saturated by people loving on me. So different from what I expected as previously mentioned!

And a little bit extra icing on the cake is that our replacement mattress got delivered a little while ago, yay yay yay! For anybody who doesn’t know, we bought our mattress about 6 weeks before we got married and left it in the plastic to keep it protected, thinking that was the smartest thing to do. Fast forward to arriving back from our honeymoon… Our mattress had all these stitching faults!!!!! We didn’t want to sleep on it, for fear of the supplier trying to wriggle out of replacing/fixing it so we left it in the plastic and they came to pick it up a week or so ago, telling us that we’d probably have to wait a few weeks. 😦 Thankfully, they’ve excelled themselves and been speedy about it and we now have a brand spanking new mattress that ACTUALLY FITS OUR BED! Maybe it’s all in the mind but I feel so much more settled. πŸ™‚

So for the rest of the day, when Steve gets back, we are headed to Melbourne. That might sound exciting, but actually it will be in the truck, overnight, to deliver a load of hay. πŸ™‚ Unfortunately, it can’t be unloaded till the morning which means we won’t get back till sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Just a word of warning: we’re on phantom internet. What does that mean? It means we haven’t paid for the internet we’re currently using; we shouldn’t have it and we don’t know where it’s coming from!! So it could vanish at any minute. πŸ™‚ However, we have subscribed to our own wireless broadband today and, although it should be currently up and running, is anything ever easy with Telstra?! Of course not! We hate them. It’s kind of like petrol, though: hard to live without it. Supposedly, they’re currently dealing with the problem but it won’t be solved till Tuesday…
