Finally!

All this time, we’ve been waiting for the police to 1. come back and check the boat and 2. bring our statements on the accident to us for signing.

The boat was given back to us the day after we got home from the river and, although we thought it was rather quick, the water police felt they’d done all they needed to with it. Our statements were taken the same day and were meant to be brought back to us the next week for signing.

Both of those were finally done at the end of this last week, thankfully! About two weeks ago, I called the police and told them that the more time went on, the more I was concerned about having to re-read these statements which are a blow-by-blow account of events from the moment of waking on the day of the accident. Thankfully, they were sympathetic and the guy chased things up.

It was hard but at least we are done with them now. About 45 mins before the police came, I felt so sick and nervous and anxious. Reading it made me have a big cry and then it slowly started to wear off. I was pretty tired but managed to still go to Sal’s (our best man’s wife) 30th that night. So I thought I did pretty well!

Unfortunately, an inquest IS being done which is something extra tacked on the end just as something gets crossed off the top of the list. However, it is only a formality and should hopefully be simple and relatively quick.
